A Professor IV at Cebu Normal University’s Department of Languages and Literature. With a strong academic foundation, he holds a Doctor of Education major in English Language Teaching and is a candidate for a Doctor of Arts in Literature and Communication at Cebu Normal University. She also completed a Master of Education major in Administration and Supervision at Cebu Technological University and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Cebu Normal University.

A seasoned educator, Dr. Derasin has been teaching English, linguistics, and literature courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels since 1997.Her expertise includes literary criticism, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, and innovative strategies in language teaching. She is also a certified reviewer for English and Literature subjects for the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).

Dr. Derasin is a prolific researcher with numerous publications in SCOPUS and internationally indexed journals, covering topics such as rhetorical structures in media, syntactic Filipinisms, and linguistic landscapes. Her work has contributed significantly to English language learning, literature, and pedagogy in the Philippines.

An active member of multiple academic organizations, including the Linguistics Society of the Philippines, the Philippine Association for Teacher Education, and the Coalition for Better Education, she has also served as a speaker, research adviser, and module developer for language education.

With her extensive contributions to research and education, Dr. Derasin continues to be a driving force in advancing language and literature studies in the Philippines.
